Describe your workshop/presentation (300-500 words):
This workshop will focus on the development, maintenance and expansion of “Casa Marìa Amor” a woman´s shelter and healing center in Cuenca-Ecuador.
I will describe in detail how this innovative model integrates processes of personal healing, employment skill building, child care and ecologically balanced use of the rural environment.
Participants will learn how to build a culturally appropriate program for abused women that recognizes the need for sustained long-term support and personal development.
Strategies for increasing employment skills and self-esteem among female victims of personal violence will be presented. Funding needs and programs using local and international sponsors will be discussed.
