Datamation Foundation works on gender issues, especially on gender issues pertaining to the poorest of the poor women. We have implemented an action-oriented transformation process for the poor and marginalized women that ensures for them safety, security especially livelihoods, education and health care as well as access to legal rights and shelters for all scenarios and for different walks of life,The self-contained community centre model of the Datamation Foundation linked to shelter homes has been found to be sustainable as well as worthy of replication across the globe

Describe your workshop/presentation (300-500 words): 
The workshop shall discuss the current and the past status of the Govt. and NGO backed women shelter homes in India. The goal of the workshop shall be not only to discuss about the problems and the challenges; but also way forward and solutions that must get implemented in order to create a better humane living conditions for the women. There shall be extensive discussion and presentation around the solutions that have been identified as under:
• Regular visits be organised to assess the conditions at childcare institutions in the country. These visits to be conducted by teams comprising eminent citizens, members of the judiciary, media, NGOs and academicians.
• Survey should be conducted would help the authorities learn the condition of the children, the facilities available in the centre.
Instead of being used as detention centres, girls living in these care homes should be allowed to go to regular schools so that they are able to report any wrongdoing immediately .
• Inadequacy of staff if any in these shelters should be taken care of
• Infrastructure and living conditions needs improvement.
• Surprise Inspections at regular Intervals.
• They should be allowed to stay and interact with outside world as per their best interest
• Strengthening community initiatives like NGOs working in the field
• Strengthening legislative initiatives and modification in the existing legislations if required
• Gender sensitization
• Infusing moral and religious values
• Population control
• Skill Training and Job opportunities
• Easy accessibility for education for higher education by decreasing fees and removing all type of taxes
• Increasing funding opportunities for building more Shelters both private and government and repair and maintenance of existing shelters.
• Increase the range of support services offered to include psychological care and medical and legal aid.

• sensitization as a mandatory part of employment at
• Shelter homes.
Some of the other solutions includes checking licence, check on unregistered homes, check on overcrowded homes, curb on misappropriation of funds etc.
