Describe your workshop/presentation (300-500 words):
Violence against women is a universal phenomenon. It is a serious violation of human rights.
Tunisia is not immune to such a global phenomenon. The ENVEFT -ONFP 2010 found that 47.6% of the women reported had experienced some form of violence in their lifetime.
The Tunisian Constitution adopted in January 2014 declared fight violence against women.
Towards 2017, Tunisia promulgated, the organic law on the elimination of violence against women.
The main objective of my workshop is the development of the new law 58-2017 in charge and protection of the FVV in Tunisia.
This law is meant to be global:
• It includes all types of violence: physical, moral, sexual, economic and political, whether this is the place of violence: private or public space and its author and his relationship with the victim.
• It is multisectoral, based on coordination between the sectors concerned, to better meet their needs. Security, health, justice, social affairs and women's sectors as well as collaboration with civil society organizations.
• It integrates several approaches; Human Rights, Focus on the safety of victims and empowering the author.
according to this law, The woman victim of violence and resident children with her, improved the following rights:
-The legal protection , so as to guarantee his safety, his physical and psychological integrity and his dignity, while respecting his specificities, as well as the administrative, security and judicial measures required for this purpose;
-Access to information and legal guidance on the provisions of access to justice procedures and available services;
-The benefit of legal aid;
-Compensation repair
-psychological and appropriate social accompaniment
-Benefit from public care, including listening
-immediate accommodation within the limits of available resources.
Despite these advances, in practice, significant gaps remain. Indeed, experience shows that this is a change in law that changes practices and beliefs. In many countries, in the silence of the population and the inertia of public authorities against violence against women and much further under-reported and perpetrators go unpunished. This is an unchanged / ineffective incident. Legislation is effective only if it is accompanied by a change in the standards, behavior and behavior of stakeholders.
In 2018, 40000 complaints were made but rare are the cases that have been successful.
